22.2 miles. I told a bed time story about Melon Man rolling over on a water moccasin in his sleep and turned out to be quite prophetic. We started out walking on a hot day. Briefly had cell service in between a dam and had an insanely awesome echo. After our first water source, we had another 6 miles of hiking to do in very hot, boring desert with no shade. I decided to dunk my sun hoody in the water and the cold wet shirt felt so so good against the sun. It made the next hour one of the best hours of hiking so far and I felt like my body was going into overdrive. I pushed as hard as I could and finally made it to Silverwood Lake where we all planned to take a siesta. There was a group of 6 cabanas with a picnic table right on the water. Everybody ate, jumped in the freezing cold water, and promptly found a part of a table to nap on. After our naps, Josh and Melon Man realized they had been sleeping on top of and right next to a Southern California Rattlesnake that was curled up underneath their chosen picnic table. We joked that Melon Man could have rolled over the snake and squished it to make my story true. We hiked another 6.5 miles up to get to a campsite above the ridge and did yoga to a beautiful sunset.
