24.6 miles. Today we slack packed, which means that we left all of our gear besides a days worth of food and water behind and our stuff was brought to us at the end of the day. This was the perfect time for a low weight day because we had 6000 feet over 15 miles of uphill to get past Wrightwood. We started off walking slow from all of our popped blisters but quickly gained speed from the loss of all of our backweight. I truly felt incredible having to carry almost nothing and the morning felt almost euphoric. It was pretty hot in the morning so I had lots of Gatorade electrolyte packets which I think helped me feel great. We took our first break at 10:30 after having done 12 miles and we’re joined by Pantry, Riddles, Tap Dancer, and Anna Joy. I had my grocery store sandwich for 1st lunch that was extra bomb; definitely want to make this a tradition. Pantry had us sign his hat now that most people had trail names. We continued on until a longer siesta around 12:30. By then, we only had 6 miles left of our 22 mile stretch and I was finally getting exhausted. Swell screamed and woke me up right before I was starting to fall asleep in my nap so I was grumpy. We pushed on for the last 2 hours to meet Swell’s parents for all of our stuff. While we were waiting, Glowstick, Payless, Oyster, Cowabunga, and Ultra Mooch got back from town and they were all in a great mood which was awesome to see. I quickly changed my plans from doing an extra 4 miles in the evening to doing 2 more with them once I felt the added weight of everything back in my pack. We passed some soda trail magic on the way to camp and got to a closed down campsite that was super nice. We were all able to spread out and pig out. Glowstick and Payless even made a fancy pasta, shallot, and broccoli meal. Swell came in after dinner with her parents and brought us leftover pizza and led us in some yoga on a chilly night.
