Day 24: Lonesome Dove

24.4 miles. We all woke up a little late from Dan’s and started heading out. I thought everyone had slept in until 8 but it was only 6. We finished the last bit of the road walk, passed mile 400 with a dance party, and quickly stumbled upon a little cabin. Swell went in to say hi and it turned out to be trail magic in the making that we were too early for. They quickly set up PB&Js and bananas for us and we relaxed gratefully. We all seemed pretty tired so we just hung out for what seemed like forever and made ourselves coffee. We met King Magnus and his dad who were an 11 year old son and his father from Seattle. Magnus saw the PCT and decided he wanted to do it, which all of us have mad respect for him embarking on such an adventure so young and for his dad being so supportive. We finally left and started hiking feeling very far behind our usual hiking goals. We saw that we could send pizza to a turnoff on the highway which really motivated us through the whole day. We got to our siesta spot and ordered the pizza for 3 hours from then and 8 miles away. After a little more than an hour, I saw we had already gone over 4 miles so I stopped on a ridge and called again to change it to earlier and add two beers for Smooch and I as a extra treat. We easily made it to the little picnic table off the same windy, dangerous road we had been walking on by 6:30 and had to wait impatiently for our pizza. Finally we pigged out on veggie and Hawaiian pizza. We started hiking the final 3 miles around 8 as the sun was going down. I got to camp last and had to take a shitty slanted spot leading into the site as every other shitty spot was already taken.
