24 miles. I woke up feeling extremely tired and worried about making it 24 miles to Acton before 6 to meet Smooch’s friend for a ride into town. I ended up deciding to get more rest and went back to sleep and woke up 8 extremely relaxed. After a lazy morning, I started hiking with a good mindset that I could do however many miles that day I wanted and finish the rest into Agua Dulce the next day. Quickly, my mindset changed and I couldn’t help but think about how nice a good meal and some whiskey sounded. It also seemed like a good challenge to see if I could make 24 miles between 9 am and 6 pm so I went for it. I didn’t push myself too hard but I only took two 30 minute breaks at 12 and 3. At noon, I had lunch with Kaboom. We hiked together for a while and I saw the same old low growth desert plants new again. Everything that I had become desensitized too was so beautiful and bright and helped make it a really nice day of hiking. I also finished my first audiobook, Dead Wake, and continued the Dissect on Dark Twisted Fantasy. Once I got to my second break, I calculated that the rest of the group likely stopped there and ran into Swell and Smooch right as they were leaving. I laid down and was so relaxed but tired. It was extremely hard to get up and go again so I went really slow for a while. The day felt like it had a shit ton of downhill that was killing my knees. I finally was close and ran into Pitch for the last 1.5 miles and hiked down with her. I got there at 6:30 right as Smooch’s friend Keanu (unfortunately not Reeves) and Pitch’s dad showed up. I got my package from KOA quickly and got a hitch into town with Payless and Glowstick. We ate at the 49ers saloon which was a completely deserted restaurant besides us that still took forever to order and get food. They felt so bad about bringing my food and drink out late that they gave me a free drink and took a whiskey shot with me, so I felt like I needed to leave a generous tip to thank them for their hospitality. After a shitty resupply, Smooch and Swell were determined to hike a little more trail and we got to a teeny campsite at 10. I successfully convinced them to sleep in the next morning mwahahhaa.
