Day 42: Up, Up, and Away

25.9 miles. I woke up groggy and didn’t want to honor my commitment of waking up at 5:30 that I had made with weatherman the night before. Luckily for me, he came over and gave me a personal wake up call that made me feel obligated to get up. After packing up, I finally had enough energy to hang with everyone. I started walking with Anna, alchemist, and boogie. We got to the first water source and all munched down our breakfast snacks and did some yoga with brightside. After the next uphill push, we took a lunch break on top of the mountain and tried to figure out hostel reservations in Bishop. I also found out that both Boogie and Weatherman were Jewish! We decided to do a few extra miles to get to an alpine lake so we had to book it in the afternoon. We all hiked in pairs or together for most of the time which I ended up enjoying a lot after having only hiked with other people for maybe a third of the time. Boogie had adopted an adandoned Grogu that she found in a hiker box that served as everyone’s therapist. I consoled in Grogu about my fear of waking up super early for a Whitney sunrise hike and early to get into Bishop the day after. We finally got to the alpine lake but the sun had already set so we knew it would be a death wish to get in that late. Anna had taken 6 poops that day because she said all of them had been rabbit poops so I dubbed her Lil Drop (and Big Drop on the days she had big dumps). We all had dinner and went to sleep in a Tyvek train. Luckily Brightside didn’t kick me in his sleep like everyone had warned.
